Al Wehda Saudi Club is a social, cultural, and sports club based in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, founded in 1946. The club was originally known as (Al Harba’a) before it settled on the name “Al Wehda” in 1946. This is also the same year it was officially registered under the General Administration of Sports and Welfare of the Saudi Ministry of Interior, which oversaw sports activities in Saudi Arabia at that time.
Historian Mohamed Ghazawi mentioned in his book (The Historian of Al Wahda Club) that the club was founded in 1946 and was initially named “Al Harba’a,” later changing to “Al Wehda.” Ghazawi confirms in some global football references that he was the founder of the club, as he was the first to propose the name Al Wehda.
In his book (Al Wehda Club Makkah Al-Mukarramah: The First Club in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Ghazawi writes about its establishment in the year 1334 – 1916, confirming that it was initially named Al Harba’a and was based in Mecca, with a strong connection to the city of Jeddah. He also mentions the official logo of the club.
